Player help
Join your campaign and talk to its NPCs
Plotlark campaign access is added by the GM. Once you are a member, you can open the campaign workspace and use its saved NPCs with Discord's /ask command when that command is available in your server.
Get access in four steps
- 01
- 02
Ask your GM to add your account
Give your GM the exact email address on your Plotlark account. The GM adds an already-registered account in that campaign's Members area and assigns the player role. Players cannot join a campaign themselves. Adding you does not send an invitation, so coordinate with your GM directly.
- 03
Open the campaign
After the GM adds you, sign in and open Campaigns. Select the campaign to enter its workspace. If it is missing, check that you signed in to the same account email you gave your GM, then ask the GM to confirm the membership.
- 04
Ask a saved NPC in Discord
In the Discord channel connected to the campaign, choose
/askfrom Discord's command picker and fill in both required fields:npcandmessage. Use the NPC's saved campaign name, and enter your question or request inmessage. The NPC name must match exactly one saved NPC in that campaign. When it succeeds, the reply appears in that Discord channel. It uses the saved NPC profile and, when available, up to the ten most recent saved campaign messages as context.
Troubleshooting
If something does not work
- You cannot find
/ask - Ask your GM to check that Plotlark's
/askapplication command is registered for this Discord server. - The channel is not connected
- Ask the GM to set this Discord channel as the campaign's watched channel in campaign settings.
- The channel is connected to multiple campaigns
- A channel must resolve to exactly one campaign. Ask the GM to remove the extra watched-channel binding.
- There is no saved NPC, or the name does not match
- Ask the GM to save the NPC in the campaign, then use its saved name in
npc. If that NPC name is saved more than once, the GM needs to make the campaign's NPC names unique. - The NPC cannot reply right now
- Wait briefly and run
/askagain. If it keeps failing, ask the GM to try again later.
The campaign Recaps workspace has its own recap action. It is not a Discord command.
